The Command Centre Vehicle is set up to allow for:

  • Information to be delivered directly and in real time to the personnel and command vehicles involved in an incident or an event;
  • Direct transmission and display of current satellite topographical maps to computer screens and GPS devices allocated to teams and vehicles in the field for search and rescue;
  • Use of satellite imagery to track and record movement of field personnel to allow for optimum deployment and safety;
  • Synchronous transmission of information to multiple sites
  • Enhanced coordination of events and incidents;
  • Commander(s) briefing facility; and
  • Video Conferencing accommodating virtual meetings with participants located at other strategic locations.

This application of technology will play a major role in assisting in the accurate deployment of resources, increasing personnel safety and improving respons to the scene of an incident.

The Command Centre Vehicle can be airlifted or driven into a disaster zone and within 15 minutes of reaching its end destination can be operational, providing a mobile communications hub.
